The metallic curtain walls at this parking garage conceal the inside while allowing pedestrians to engage with their surroundings. Part of the design emphasis in the new Yankee stadium is the openness. A custom version of GKD Tigris stainless steel metal fabric was employed at balcony and platform levels of the Great Hall, the transition and activity location between entrances and the field. The transparency allows visual access through to the field, keeping fans in touch with the action from just about anywhere. At the same time, the fabric provides both a safety and a security role. Kip Kramer, Acoustical Design, indicated that “Zena Design wanted a curved arch and their concept proved to be beautiful. This was accomplished by taking Topakustik sound absorbing, moisture resistant, wood planks and applying them to a curved surface. The Architect, Owner, and Contractor were all very happy with the way the project turned out.”
