The city of Aurora won the 2012 APWA award for their Highline Canal underpass project.
Large, concrete monument walls extend vertically to the street grade to announce and promote the underpass. Simple, sturdy metal lettering fixed to the walls label the underpass and is visible to motorists and pedestrians. The GKD metal mesh “scrim” panels add a unique architectural signature to the tunnel that eases maintenance and is very attractive.
